5 ways to upgrade your Linkedin Personal Brand

Winning on Linkedin is a game and you’ve got to know the foundations. Here are 5 things you must get right to win:

1) Craft a killer headline

Your headline is the first thing people see when you comment on a post or when people search for you, so make it count! Your goal is to highlight what makes you unique and showcase your expertise in a way that grabs attention.

Example: I help companies reach their potential at the click of a button | CEO of ABC & Co | Business Development | Entrepreneur

2) Share engaging content regularly

If you want to win on LinkedIn you’ve got to show up consistently with a unique perspective. If you are just starting to post on Linkedin, we advise you to start with 2 or 3 posts per week between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays and varying between different formats: carousels, images, videos or infographics. Then you can try what works best for you, testing is the key!

PRO TIP: Constancy is important, don't get carried away by the number of likes, and don’t forget to stay in touch with your audience to discover new insights.

3) Optimize your profile

Your profile is your landing page. Make sure it reflects the expertise that you want to be known for. Start by filling in all your contact information, experience, studies, education, aptitudes, and certificates. You can also include your services (if you have) and recognitions or important prizes. From your headline to your summary and experience, make sure you're easily discoverable by the right people.

KEEP AN EYE ON THIS: Consider this your personal brand's spotlight moment – seize it to showcase yourself and encapsulate all the qualities you bring to the table.

4) Network like a pro

LinkedIn is all about relationships. You need to build them with the people that matter in your industry. Here’s how:

a) Follow 10 thought leaders and commit to commenting twice a week on their content.

b) Outreach and send invitations to at least 15 prospects a week. Let them know who you are and what expertise you have to share.

c) Comment on 10 posts from different people in your industry a day (make them interesting and valuable comments).

IMPORTANT: You have the flexibility to send approximately 20 to 25 connection requests each day, and with a strategic approach, you can extend this to up to 100 per week.

5) Experience with multimedia

Testing is very important to see which format works best for you. Experiment with text-only posts, images, carousels, videos or infographics and see what works with your audience and with your brand voice.

PRO TIP: have a colour palette that represents you so that people will recognise you, you can also include your logo. Our favorite app to do this is Canva!
